Sweet Summertime

It has been a wonderful summer for us. We have been working around our new house, cultivating Brad's new hobby, and traveling. Summers are a wonderful time for me, because I et to enjoy two paid months off from work, God knows all teachers need it by May. I spent the first half of June trying to find a hobby. Here are a few attempts to find my niche.

Mom came in June to check out the new house and help with anything we needed. It was great to have her here and I put her to work. We repainted walls and bought two Adirondack chairs for the front porch, which we painted red and decorated with polka dot pillows. Mom loved the house and is extremely proud of Brad and me. It makes her extremely happy to see us doing so well.

Brad has just taken up golf this summer. We have spent most of the summer (and our money, haha) getting him the things he needs to really enjoy his new hobby. First thing we did was join our local country club, then we sold the dirt bike to pay for our new golf cart, and then bought new golf clubs (Christmas came early for Brad). We traveled to Charlotte in early July and spent time with the family. There Brad took a few golf lessons at Firethorn golf club and when he wasn't doing that he was on the golf course with my aunt and uncle. He is playing very well and he shot a 76 the other day, go Brad! His day's schedule consist of coffee, work, golf, and sometimes a little time with the wife. I am very proud of all he does and I love supporting his new hobbies!

This past weekend we returned from a fun-filled family vacation in Gatlingburg. We traveled with my father in-law, step-mother in-law, sister-in-law, and brother in-law. Cheryl and Phillip have three kids, Taylor (5), Ford (2), and Payton (2), it was so much fun watching the kids experience the mountains for the first time. One of the best parts of the trip was the Aquarium, the kids were in aw the whole time. But if you ask Taylor her favorite part of the trip, she will tell you the water slide at Ober Gatlinburg. When we returned home we were exhausted, but we actually have missed having the kids around. They are so sweet.

This week has been filled with fun and it is only Wednesday. One of my best friends had her first baby Monday. After her long awaited arrival, Brennan Rae DeCorte entered the world at 1:52, weighing a 7lbs 13oz. She is healthy and gorgeous, AMEN!! I am so happy for the new family and it fills my heart that Brennan's parents biggest wish was finally granted. I worked in my classroom and got it ready for the first day of school, hopefully the school dreams will stop now!

We are so blessed to have this life and we thank God for all that he has done!
